Stepmom’s Heartfelt Wedding Vows to Her 4-Year-Old Stepson Leave Everyone in Tears

Weddings symbolize love and fresh beginnings, and for USMC Sgt. Joshua Newville and Senior Airman Emily Leehan, their special day became an unforgettable moment for everyone present.

Guests arrived expecting a joyous celebration, but they had no idea they would witness one of the most heartfelt moments imaginable. During the ceremony, Emily took everyone by surprise by sharing personal vows—not just with her groom, but also with her 4-year-old stepson, Gage.

The little boy, already excited about his father’s wedding, deeply cherished his soon-to-be stepmother. However, Emily’s touching words to him melted every heart in the room.

Looking into Gage’s wide eyes, she gently said, “I want you to be safe, to try your hardest, and to always be a good person.” Her sincerity was unmistakable, and as the emotions overcame him, Gage burst into tears.

Overwhelmed, he wrapped his arms tightly around Emily while guests, moved by the moment, sniffled and sighed with admiration.

Trying to soothe him, Emily whispered, “Don’t cry, baby,” though she herself was overcome with emotion. She continued, “You are so smart, kind, and handsome. I may not have given you the gift of life, but life gave me the gift of you.”

There wasn’t a dry eye in the room as the two embraced, sealing a lifelong bond.

Though the newlyweds were filled with love and joy, they had to postpone a honeymoon due to their military commitments at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst. Still, the memory of their heartfelt vows—especially the ones shared with Gage—will forever be cherished.
